MATERIALS USED:

Stock images and historical paintings

The concept for the design was to place Dracula in an anachronistic setting. The printed text on the clothes reflects the importance of humanity's technological advancement in the story, as well as the technique of using letters and diaries to tell the tale. Above are the designs for Mina, the heroine, and Dr. Seward, an academic.

Costumes for the undead characters, inspired by biblical clothing. Dracula himself is embodied by each of the human actors using a bone-white ritual mask. His victims turn crimson as they are corrupted, while resilient Mina wears icy blue.

The set's dull tones match the majority of the costumes and provide a grim backdrop for the show. A ritual circle of chalk encloses the action while a wooden box acts as coffin, bed and seat as required.
